Amanda's essay, Into the Underworld, received a Silver Medal for Best Travel Memoir in the Solas Awards for Best Travel Writing, sponsored by Travelers' Tales. In March of 2013, her story, A Place of Miracles, received a Gold Medal in the Travel and Healing category of the Solas Awards.
